City University was founded in 1894 and is currently host to more than 21000 students and 2100 staff from 156 countries.
Within it, the School of Informatics hosts a key activity of research in Computing where the majority of academic staff has been recognised as being of international excellence in the national research assessments of 2001 and 2007. City University participates in CUMULUS, through the Software Engineering Research Group in the School of Informatics (SE@CITY Group). Founded in 2000, the group is led by Professor George Spanoudakis and has 3 additional faculty members, 2 senior visiting staff and 10 researchers/PhD students.
The group is also part of the new interdisciplinary centre of the University for Cyber and Security Sciences which draws together research groups focusing on network security, software and computer systems security, cryptography, information security, human and physical security, and legal frameworks for security.
